The 12th Edition of TrafficInfraTech Expo, New Delhi wraps up with vibrant displays of cutting-edge tech-based solutions for smart and efficient traffic, parking and road infrastructure management

New Delhi, 20th December 2024: The 12th edition of TrafficInfraTech Expo with concurrent shows RoadInfratech Expo and ParkingInfraTech Expo held in New Delhi concluded with a robust turnout of 3,249 visitors. The event attracted visitors from 153 Indian cities and 26 Indian states including union territories. The international visitor presence was recorded from 16 countries. The event brought together 350+ brands who showcased advanced intelligent solutions to address the infrastructure advancements and needs of the seamless management tools and technologies for traffic, roads and parking.

The expo presented various tech-solutions and products that facilitate Intelligent Transportation Management Systems (ITMS) for road operators and enforcement authorities. Solutions exhibited included tools that enable real-time analysis of traffic flow, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Vehicle Movement Monitoring, Fast Tags for Tolling Systems, Advanced CCTV Surveillance, Road Safety Signals and Indicators, fuel monitoring system and many advanced solutions. The expo also hosted the multiple conferences under the theme ‘Smart Mobility Conference 2024 focusing in theme ‘Enabling Responsible Mobility’, which resulted in a powerful knowledge exchange between speakers and the attendees.  

The last day of the expo was marked by the presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Minister of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), who emphasised and encouraged the use of artificial intelligence (AI). In his address, he highlighted about the governments’ focus on implementing advanced technologies in road safety ecosystem, MSMEs who can provide quality products and emphasised on the potential of the sector which has a huge market for exports.

Mr Akio Yamamoto, Secretary General, ITS Asia-Pacific and President, ITS-Japan, who attended the conference, shared: “The conference has been very, very energetic and exciting. Not only the content but also the network with the ITS colleagues, especially the ITS India forum – because the ITS-India Forum is applying for membership of the ITS-Asia Pacific, was great. How to utilize AI is my big interest. India is very good at IT technology, so, this is the reason I came down here to learn how to utilize the AI technology into the ITS services.”

Mr Dushyant Deshpande, Director, Skytoll Pvt Ltd, shared: “For the past 15 years, Skytoll has managed Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) systems for Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia and is now expanding its services to Croatia. GNSS ETC represents a game-changing innovation that will unfold in the coming years. Having participated in India for the first time, we see immense opportunities to collaborate with stakeholders including system integrators, tech-service providers and startups. The engagements we had with visitors and exhibitors at the expo have been very encouraging.”

Likewise, exhibitor Mr Sandeep Pawar, CEO and MD, Kent IT, shared: “We have been participating in the TrafficInfratech Expo for nearly a decade. This platform stands out for its focus on innovation, allowing us to learn about new launches and connect directly with our clients and suppliers. This exhibition remains a vital platform for the ITS industry. With Messe Frankfurt now on board, we foresee even greater growth and reach for the show.”

Mr Ashish Agarwal, Highway Engineer, AECOM, who are currently working on Dwarka Expressway as a Road Safety Expert, stated: “Safety and speed are often at odds, making advanced technologies like AI and sophisticated cameras indispensable for balancing these priorities effectively. I observed several exhibitors presenting innovative solutions at the expo. With the expansion of highways and smart cities, I am confident that the expo will witness increased participation from both visitors and exhibitors in the future.”

Satisfying the visitors with a series of advanced range of solutions, Ms Mythili Menon, Advisor – ITU and FAO Focus Group on AI and IoT for Digital Agriculture, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), expressed her experience as: “Collaboration is key. Everyone deserves a seat at the table to co-create and build solutions for intelligent transport systems. AI- and IoT-based solutions will drive greater engagement and participation. Standardization is essential for effectively implementing these technologies and application-based displays can help visitors better understand and connect with the offerings. I look forward to seeing more of this in future editions.”

Mr Sanjay Sharma, Joint Commissioner - Interdepartmental Lead Agency Road Safety Chhattisgarh, remarked: “This expo is more relevant than ever considering India’s position as a country with a high number of road accidents. The advanced technologies presented here have the potential to significantly reduce accidents. The conference speakers also highlighted innovations that could transform traffic management. There is an urgent need to spread awareness about behavioral change and AI can play a crucial role in understanding and addressing this.”

Resulting in satisfying the exhibitors and visitors, the expo garnered support from various regulatory bodies, ministry and associations including Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) and National Highway Builders Federation (NHBF).
